Assignment description

Development of the new website of De Belegger and its French counterpart L'Investisseur.  The website renewal consisted of 3 major parts:

• Implementation of the new graphical design (created by Mediafin in close cooperation with Little Miss Robot)
• Technical upgrade of the websites to the renewed webplatform of Mediafin
• Addition of share advice lists on the website (new functionality)

Technical upgrade

The existing Java platform was migrated to the new updated version of the Mediafin web platform, the same platform powering the websites of De Tijd/L'Echo and Netto/Mon Argent.  Advantages of this upgrade are centralized, user-friendly management of the sites for the webmasters and support for the entire feature set of the new platform, including more flexibility in positioning different elements on the web pages.

New features and functionality

The heart of De Belegger/L'Investisseur is all about shares and how they are valued in the market.  To better support the target audience the site was redesigned around the combination of share context information and the buy/sell/hold advice.  This results in a better ability to switch from numerical information to a text version of the analysis. 

A new feature on the site is the advice lists: pages providing an overview of shares and their corresponding advice given by the editorial/analyst staff of De Belegger.  The shares are grouped by sector and market and can easily be filtered by the user on relevant parameters like profit, risk or divident yield.  The user also has the ability to put shares in his or her private selection to keep track of the evolution in the future.

Along with the addition of the online advice information for shares, a better integration between the sites of De Tijd/L'Echo and De Belegger/L'Investisseur was created, resulting in a larger visitor exchange between the different sites.
